Seven organisations have come together to test scalable and accessible retrofit approaches in 12 demonstrator sites across the UK, as part of a £1.9 million project funded by Innovate UK.
As part of the project the partners will be capturing, monitoring, collecting data and testing across 12 non-domestic properties, to utilise Digital Twin technology and determine the most effective retrofit building upgrades.
The project, named ALCHEMAI, was born from a five-day innovation lab focused on developing scalable net zero solutions, as part of the UK Research and Innovation Net Zero Heat Programme, in which each organisation took part.
Partners:
Atamate Building Intelligence – Site Data Gathering
Bassetlaw District Council – Public building trials
Beattie – Retrofit strategy and tool
BE-ST – User engagement, and Scotland test bed
Elemental Power – Data analysis, digital twins and AI
Holosphere – User interface, digital twins and drones
RE 24 – Energy consultancy, and England test bed
Beattie are bringing extensive retrofit experience to the team. They are undertaking analysis of the buildings and data captured to present a strategy of potential retrofit solutions, their impact and the estimated costs (m2) associated with implementation. The analysis will feed into the digital twin to enable options to be generated and continual learning to happen, providing an understanding of what retrofit solutions work best on different building types.
