Addressing the Unique Challenges of a Paragraph 84 Submission

The PHPP is a critical tool for ensuring the project aligns with Passivhaus standards, which focus on ultra-low energy buildings that provide superior comfort and exceptional energy efficiency. At this stage, we have conducted detailed analysis of the proposed building’s energy performance, encompassing heat loss, ventilation, insulation, and airtightness. These calculations will guide the architectural design to meet or exceed the stringent criteria required for Passivhaus certification.

This effort also addresses the unique challenges of a Paragraph 84 submission, which pertains to development in rural areas where planning permission often hinges on the sustainability and innovation of the proposal. By leveraging the PHPP to demonstrate environmental responsibility and energy efficiency, the project seeks to align with local planning policies and national priorities for sustainable development.

Our role involves not only the technical application of the PHPP but also supporting Dandelion Seeds Architects in integrating these insights into the design process. Together, we aim to create a sustainable, high-performing building that aligns with the client’s vision and complies with planning requirements in Somerset’s rural context.
